This is Lauren. I did her hair yesterday. I haven’t seen her since last year. She says I’ve been doing her hair since she was 14 but for some reason I thought she was 12. I remember like it was yesterday when her Mexican grandmother would bring her in to get her hair highlighted. I thought she was too young. Whenever I would do her hair the grandmother would bring her back and have me redo it she wanted her hair blonder and blonder. It weird. She was a minor. See Lauren ‘s father is black. And her grandmother has issues with it. She would call Lauren the N word. I took a liking to Lauren, she would vent to me about the mistreatment. Her relationship with her mother’s side of the family is very strained. She is a determined woman. She is going to school to become a professional chef. She takes 3 buses to go school. Like me she hopes to write a book about her life and struggles. She is open about her up bringing and so I don’t feel guilty sharing it here. I have a soft spot for biracial folks. I understand them. I know what it is to be discriminated for having that nice peanut butter look or not being black enough. I have MANY biracial clients. What’s cool is that mixed kids are poppin up all over now, one day they will rule the world😜. You know my pet peeves bullying and racism. As long as I am alive I will speak up against it. You won’t see me protesting marching up and down the streets hootin and hollering but I will take the time to educate one person at a time the bad consequences of such wicked sick mentality. I cannot change the world but If I can make a difference for the better in one person’s life I did a good thing😍
I did a color retouch with a level 9c Framesi color line.. (Love it) it doesn’t smell so hard like Paul Mitchell. While she was processing I did a balayage. I rinsed the color when done then I used PM shines by Paul Mitchell to ad shine to the hair…Ta da!!..Who knows when I will see Lauren again. For now she inspires me to use the kitchen more. My Cuban dish did not come out so tasty like I thought it would. I think I poured too much wine when I was cooking the chicken. I want to throw the apron up in the air and give up cooking. Cooking is too tricky. One little mistake can kill your whole meal off to a catastrophe. I am going to force myself to keep trying the Cuban dish so that I can have something to blog about when I come here. Now don’t ask me why the settings in the typing changed. That is what happens when you blog from your cell phone with foggy glasses😂
