Things have been intense lately. After my mom’s longtime cleaning lady, Dolores, passed away, all the car drama started. The night before I opened my salon, my car was stolen, and I had to take Ubers from Bellflower, California, just to get to work. All my money went toward Uber rides and rent, making that first year incredibly tough. Even after getting my car back from the impound lot, someone crashed into it again, and my sister and I had to use an extension cord to keep the door together. A friend even bought me a jack to secure the steering wheel, but that got stolen too! It’s been one of the most challenging times in my life, but music has always carried me through every trial and tribulation. It’s my escape, helping me find strength and keep my head up.
To stay resilient, remember to:
1. Dance to good music.
2. Journal your thoughts.
3. Treat yourself to something nice.”
