Coach Evy
If you’ve noticed my absence here, the last time I posted on this blog was eight months ago. I didn’t step away because I forgot about my platform, I stepped away because I was intentionally pouring into my real life. I was nurturing a relationship, bonding with my fiancé, and doing the necessary groundwork for a lifetime partnership.
Healthy relationships take time and genuine effort. It isn’t about being drained; it’s about the beautiful, focused work of two different people becoming one. It requires selflessness. If a person is selfish, I honestly do not recommend getting into a serious relationship, because real love is give and take. He makes sacrifices, and I make sacrifices. We take turns genuinely listening to one another. We don’t have to agree on every single detail, but we respect each other’s differences, validate each other’s feelings, and meet halfway. You never want to walk through life with someone who dismisses, accuses, or invalidates you, and building that kind of healthy, respectful harmony takes dedication.
And through that intentional work, a major milestone arrived: I am happily engaged.
The X-Ray of a Blessing Let me begin by being crystal clear: Not every woman is an envious hater.
There are women in my life whose celebrations of my joy are pure, radiant, and genuine. When good news arrives, their hearts rejoice without hesitation or hidden clauses. I cherish those sisters, mentors, and genuine friends.
However, life has a fascinating way of using milestones as mirrors. When a major blessing knocks on your door, it acts like an x-ray. It strips away polite smiles and exposes what’s truly lurking underneath.
Recently, I noticed something disquieting: the sharpest sting didn’t come from strangers or known critics. It came from women I genuinely admired. Women I had placed on pedestals.
The Missing “Congratulations” & The Phantom Gossip
When someone announces they are engaged, basic decency and warm love dictate a simple, reflexive first response:”Congratulations! I’m so happy for you!”
Notice how easy that is? It requires zero interrogation, no unsolicited life coaching, and zero backhanded spiritualizing.
Yet, when certain women heard the news, “Congratulations” never crossed their lips. Instead, the reactions were chillingly revealing.
One comment hit like cold water:
“Oh, well, if it doesn’t work out, at least you have God.”
Excuse me? What kind of demonic, defeatist comment is that? I have always had God in my life; His presence isn’t a consolation prize for a catastrophic failure you’re already daydreaming about on my behalf!
Then others came forward whispering: “People are talking about you and your… friend.”
Notice the wording? They won’t even call him my fiancé or my boyfriend, they deliberately call him my “friend,” completely minimizing the reality of the ring shining on my finger. That is a whole different level of calculated pettiness.
Nosiness Masquerading as “Maternal Concern”
Along with the gossip came intrusive cross-examinations disguised as affection:
* “Has he been married before?”
* Followed by unprompted text lectures preaching that divorced people supposedly have better relationships because “they learned from their last mistakes.”
* Followed by an interrogation of our timeline: “You said you’ve known him for eight years, were you friends for eight years or were you just romantically involved???
“Since when did my private life become a court deposition?
When kept at arm’s length, the immediate defense rolled in:
“Oh, I’m only asking because I love you like a mom.”
Here’s the reality check: My own mother, the woman who carried me and gave me life, has never interrogated me like that. True maternal love protects your peace and honors your dignity; it doesn’t pry into your intimate business just to collect gossip or assess your worthiness.
Trusting Your Radar: The Cat Instinct When you try to confide in people about these interactions, the spiritual gaslighting starts:
* “Oh, don’t impute bad motives.” * “She didn’t mean it that way.”
* “You’re taking it wrong.”Stop letting people talk you out of your discernment.
I tell people all the time: I’m like a cat. A cat doesn’t need a dissertation to know when someone’s spirit is off. They don’t listen to sweet talk; they read the energy in the room. They pick up on subtle tension, passive-aggressive tones, forced smirks, and disguised hostility. You don’t have to ignore your gut just to keep someone comfortable on a pedestal they never belonged on in the first place. Tone speaks louder than vocabulary. Timing speaks louder than excuses. Making the Wedding Guest List Smaller, Smaller, Smaller Here is the silver lining in all of this: people reveal themselves right on time. When people show you their petty envy and passive-aggressive shade, it makes wedding planning so much easier. My guest list is getting smaller, smaller, and smaller, and I love that for me. I forgive. I release bitterness. But forgiveness does not equal an invitation. You are not going to sit at my table celebrating a milestone you secretly resented. My sacred space is reserved strictly for those whose hearts are clean and whose love is genuine. I Manifested the Man of My Dreams I refuse to let anyone’s smallness taint my joy, because I focus my energy on manifesting positive things. I am so excited and deeply looking forward to being married to the man of my dreams. I asked God for very specific qualities, and I received everything I prayed for. Spanish is my first language, so in my heart, I always wanted a Spanish-speaking man. But I’ve also always been deeply attracted to Italian men, and I love white men too. God gave me what I truly desired: my fiancé is Italian and speaks fluent Italian. Above all, he is spiritual, grounded, and treats me with deep, unwavering respect. Now, of course, the skeptics love to pipe up:> “Oh, just wait… men change when you get married.”> Listen: you pick up on the red flags while you’re dating if your eyes are open. Is he perfect? No. Am I perfect? No. But we are perfect for each other. When we step out together, I have total peace of mind. He isn’t out here “goo-goo gaga-ing” or flirting with other women in front of my face. I despise that modern, twisted excuse: “Oh, well, you can look, but you can’t touch.”No, ma’am. Don’t be looking when you are with me. It is disrespectful, period. I am not one of these “new modern-age women” who plays cool while her man disrespects her in public. Real love honors the woman by his side, both in private and out in the world.Walking the Talk: A Heart to Help All of this is to say: for anyone who has ever wondered whether my relationship coaching principles actually work, yes, they truly do.
Years before I received this ring, I was already walking alongside women, guiding them toward healthy boundaries, high standards, and fulfilling marriages. I may not be a world-renowned celebrity coach, and I don’t claim to be. I know that when women in my circle truly listen and apply these practical, spiritual principles, it transforms their lives for the better. I have had the privilege of seeing paid clients find clarity, peace, and the love they deserve.
You do not have to settle, you do not have to ignore red flags, and you do not have to accept disrespectful behavior just to have someone by your side.
Take Them Off the Pedestal & Protect Your Vision If your joy triggers an interrogation instead of celebration, take note. If your milestone makes someone insecure, intrusive, or bitter, that is not your burden to carry.
* Guard your gates: Not everyone earns front-row access to your personal journey.
* Stop explaining: You don’t owe a timeline, an explanation, or a ledger of your history to nosy spectators.
* Keep your joy clean: Celebrate with the ones whose smiles are real, and quietly demote the spectators who only show up to inspect the foundation.God blessed this union, and He gave you the intuition to protect your own peace.
